RHBAA Pleasure Horse Association Meeting

 June 14, 2008, Decatur, AL.

Danny Musick called the meeting to order at 10 a.m.  Leslie Blaylock led a prayer.  Minutes from the Spring Meeting and the Treasurers’ report were read and approved.

Discussion about Ed Hiers motion to combine English and Western tack in the Trail Pleasure Division was the first item of business.  The association was told that President Hiers had withdrawn his motion but the RHBAA Board wanted a new motion from the Pleasure Association within 15 days.

There was a unanimous decision by the members present, to write a motion that would add a Trail Pleasure Western Class, but not allow English and Western exhibitors to show in the same class.  Jim Morris, Betsy Thompson and Carolyn Blaylock left the room to compose a motion and bring it back for approval before the end of this meeting.

Under unfinished business, a donation to the Shelbyville Show was discussed.  Danny Musick made a motion to give $250.00.  Randy Sinard gave a second.  All approved, motion passed.

Fall fund raising was the first item under new business.  Leslie Blaylock discussed the possibility of focusing efforts on 50/50 drawings instead of the silent auction and saddle raffle.    Mr. Blaylock stated that during his years as President of this Association, his primary duty had been to “man the booth”.  He felt the efforts of our President should be better utilized.   The 50/50 drawings could be better supported by the members because cards could be sold at times other than during the show.  A motion was made by Mr. Blaylock; Randy Siniard gave a second, motion passed.   The Pleasure Association will use a deck of cards each night starting on Monday and sell each card for $5.00.  Friday and Saturday nights two decks will be used.

The Trail Pleasure committee rejoined the meeting as well as RHBAA President Ed Heirs.  The committee read the motion they had written and discussion continued.  Mr. Heirs expressed his desire to have English and Western exhibitors show together but the association did not agree.

Mr. Heirs abruptly left the meeting and a Motion was made and passed to present the Trail Pleasure Western motion written by Jim Morris, Betsy Thompson and Carolyn Blaylock to the board for approval.  Copies of Ed Heirs withdrawn motion, handwritten notes from today’s committee meeting and copies of the Pleasure Association endorsed motion are attached to these minutes.

Next new business item was our donation to the Fall Celebration.  A motion was made and passed to donate $500.00.

Jim Morris spoke to the association about a motion that passed the RHBAA board amending Section 9.4.  A judge will not be allowed to judge the Celebration more than twice in five years and that RHBAA President, Chairman of Judges and Rules are not eligible to judge Fall while in office.

Meeting was adjourned.
